Affliction

Affliction

A disease, an escape from the strings
Breathe in and out, count to ten
I love thee but he loves her
A thousand times over

Heartbeats fast, slow, peaks, and pits
I love thee but he loves her
Over and over, for today and tomorrow
To this I stop, look, and laugh

Heartbeats pause
Break
Leave no trace

Then there is the light
An end, a final dwelling place

Heart beats,
Stops

This is a piece I wrote in 2017. It’s surprising to see my state during that time. Now, I just laugh it off.
