Red Rose (2011*)

A: When was the last time you saw me smile?

T: When was the last time you heard me sing?

A:  When was the last time you held my hand?

T: When was the last time you felt I’m alive?

T: I walked in the garden full of roses. It was the most beautiful thing anyone could ever imagine. Red filled the whole place.

A: I saw her walked in my rose garden and she was the most radiant rose I have ever seen.

T: I was wearing my favorite white dress and I felt like an angel standing in the center of heaven.

A: She filled the land with light and everything started to fade away. I was sitting and hiding behind the bushes, waiting for my angel to come. And she did!

T: I hopped along the brick fountain found at the center of the garden. There were two ladies partly covered with cloth, standing in the middle of the fountain, pouring water from their basin.  Then I glanced forward to see my reflection.

A: I started to walk near my angel. Then she started to go near the water! She moved her body and leaned to see over the well. It was my well of hell! She can’t be near the well! She might fall and she might be eaten alive by the demons of the underground!

No! No!

I shouted. But there was no sound.

T: I loved my reflection. My long black hair was dark as the night sky. My lips were pinkish and not pale. My eyes were gleaming with life.

Then I started to sing.

A: I was so stupid! I stood there like a stone and just gazed at my angel who might be facing evil at that very moment. I wanted to hit myself so badly that my body won’t feel numb.

Then she started to sing.

T: Lalalalala… Then I stopped.

I heard a sound from behind.

A: I was starting to be at ease. But she stopped!

T: There was a man standing not too far away from me. His hands were raised high and it seemed to be raised towards me!

He will hit me!

So I thought.

Then I ran.

A: She stopped and she looked at me.

She looked at me!

Haha. Her perfectly shaped face was looking at me!

Her long black hair was flowing behind her. And her eye, oh those beautiful green eyes. They were both staring at me. And who would ever forget those pink, full lips of hers. They were speaking towards me. Calling me.

Then her gaze started to change.

She ran!

T: I ran as fast as I could. I heard my heart beating as if they were screaming. I did not look at the path I was going. All I did was run.

A: She ran. She ran. She is running! She is running!

My angel. She was running away.

I did not feel my pulse so fast that the next second was a blur.

All I know was that I wanted her. Those green eyes. Pink lips. The smell of her long black hair.

T: I was running so fast. I did not see my way. Then I slipped and hit my head so hard that all I saw was a blur.

Then he was standing there.

A: She fell.

There was blood flowing on her head. She rubbed it and it touched her white dress.

Red. Red. Red roses. My garden of red roses.

She rubbed her head more and she touched her dress twice, now her white dress was no more.

T: I tried to scream.

But there was no sound.

A: She tried to scream but I was faster now.

I held my hands against her lips.

T: He… he held his hands against my lips.

A: I smelled the scent of her hair.

Red was everywhere.

T: He asked me…

A: Do you know my angel, where God lies?

T: I cannot speak.

A: Do you believe that God lies [within] us all?

T: I tried to nod…

A: [laugh] Don’t worry. I will bring you to the kitchen and help you rid of your pain. [Long pause.]

In no time you will be within everyone else’s.
