Tilamsik

Bang, bang
Laro ng mga bata
Bang, bang
Naging bagong mundong
Magpapalaya

Ang tigang na lupa, lumago pa
Umabot sa kahabaan ng mga ugat
Nagbibigay buhay
Kumikitil ng hininga
Sa mata ng mga bata
Sa isip ng mga matatanda
Tumitilamsik ang mga alaala
Sinisikap punasan ng mga bagong paalala

Piyesa sana para sa Midnight Jam 2017 ng The Rhetoricians: The UPLB Speech Communication Organization

Kumusta, bagong umaga?

Masakit ang bati ni Haring Araw
Pilit namamaso, nagpapapikit
Sinasabi ang oras ng paglabas
Sapagkat may mga ipabibitbit

Magtutulak sa iba sa tarangkahan
May pagbati pa ng hikab maging isang
Mahabang pagbagtas ng mga braso at
Balikat na naninigas mula pa sa
Papag na gawa sa sementong malamig

Gagawin ang lahat para sa kalam
Ng sikmura ng isa’t nagpumilit
Sumama, mapa-bata o matanda
Ito ang pagbati ng Haring Araw

Sa kalye ipagpapatuloy ang bitbit
Mga kayamanang sa kanila lamang
Tinapon, kinalimutan ng iba pa
Sa bumabating palad pa ilalahad
O puede ring dadamputin, isasalba

Masakit ang bati ni Haring Araw
Pilit namamaso, nagpapapikit
Sinasabi ang oras ng paglabas
Sapagkat may mga ipabibitbit

Eclipse, Eclipse

Fingernails grow fast and clear
Eye-catching pieces for a chandelier
Put some rings or a golden pierce
The ceiling is sure to be a centerpiece

See the chains of the rib bone clock
Hear it crack with every hit of the rock
That leaves a space for the next flock
As thunders ring the final death lock

Goodbye, sweet dreams
Goodbye, my chandelier
Greetings to the new rose
Of this dark, empty prose
Or poetry to the ears
But painful grip of
Reality’s final drill

Malayo ang tingin
Abot hanggang langit
Binabagtas pala
Alaalang kapos

Napupudpod na nga
Suwelas ng suot
Na tanging sapatos
Pero tuloy pa rin

Malayo ang tingin
Abot hanggang langit

Love Poem (1)

How I wish, somehow, someone writes a poem while thinking of me
How I wish that the next song to play is mine to keep

Selfish

All pretty things happen in fairy tales
And today’s not that time to write myself one

Pity

Yeah, quite pathetic at first
But helpful, refreshing at some intervals
Still, how I wish the next poem’s for me,
about me,
or  even just
a memory of me

At least there’s a part of assurance that someone
sees (saw) me

Selfish
I know yet I need this dose of fantasy even just for a moment

Pity

It’s okay…
I’m fine.

I also pity myself sometimes.

Life Library

Do you have the list?
Red, black, and blue inks all over.
A book that’s full of all their names.

Who?

Those people who came, left, loved you.

Oh, there’s no list.

Do you simply remember everyone?
Even the minute line across their faces,
The path of each tear drop or
The smile that faded away

No. How can I?

Right.

There aren’t simply a short list
A description of moments shared
But maybe a library of emotions felt
Of feelings shared and lessons learned

Next time, please don’t forget
Maybe get a card for a record

Return on time

Leaving No Trace

Jpeg

Is it even possible to leave without any trace?

Maybe it is the time to say goodbye
Soften the blow of an unexpected break
Lessen the touch, even a simple nod
Keep the smile but it may deeply scar the heart
Still, maybe with this, leaving is possible
Erase the moments slowly from the routine
Say what you mean, show what you wish
It is the time to finally say goodbye

So, soften the blow of this unexpected break
Lessen the touch, lessen the talk
Keep the smile, keep it close

Erasing the memories slowly
With the hours moving
Swaying
Flying
Away
It
Goes
